Global Sr Director – Lifestyle Categories

Primary Responsibility:

You will be responsible for overall management of the Sport-Brella and Pro Mini Hoop (PMH) product category lines.  Working closely with product development, sales, marketing, operations and finance, you will ensure the success of not only Sport-Brella and PMH but also the overall Pro Performance Sports/SKLZ financial and customer satisfaction goals. This position will report directly to the CEO and be part of the company leadership team.

The Global Sr Director- Lifestyle is expected to:

  • Define the product roadmap and go-to-market strategy for these categories
  • Acquire and drive Consumer Insights into the product, marketing, and sales functions
  • Be accountable for revenue, gross margin and SKU contribution
  • Be the category expert with regards to the competition, distribution Sport-Brella/PMH categories
  • Determine global pricing and channel strategy to meet revenue and margin goals
  • Be the advocate for the category within the PPS Team
  • Bring outside skill set to teach and lead best practice Category Management


Key Functions:

New Product Development

  • Recommend new product opportunities through your market knowledge and customer insights.
  • Develop business cases for all new products including pricing and channel strategy, forecasting and R&D investment return.
  • Write project briefs for all new products based on the seasonal needs of each channel.
  • With the Global Sr. Director of Product Engine, develop a category development calendar for each season and consistently update the PPS team of product status.
  • Work with the design team to ensure PPS standards of quality and performance are met.
  • Evaluate the Sport-Brella/PMH product submissions received from inventors.
  • Work with third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities.

Product Line Management

  • Constantly evaluate existing product line gross/net margins to ensure they are meeting the financial objectives of the company.
  • Train PPS sales team on product, marketing support and distribution strategy to ensure right place, right price, right program.
  • Attend key trade shows and customer meetings to gain information and feedback about the product and the market. Communicate your findings with the PPS team.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure the smooth transition of product from ideation through production, sales, support and eventual end-of-life.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Four-Year College Degree Required
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • 7+ years Sr. Product Line Merchandising/Category Management Experience
  • Knowledge of and passion for the Chair/Portable Sport-Brella market strongly preferred, Toy Industry experience a plus
  • P&L Management and Pricing Leadership
  • Excellent Influencing and Communication Skills
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching innovative products
